Why we are different

Tools are currently available through various DOT websites tracking similar stats for select intersections. The CDP difference is that our machine learning algorithms take the data from these select intersections and use a community-specific model to estimate turn counts at every major intersection, every month of the year. We are able to accomplish this granularity by leveraging mobility data. Without CDP’s data sources, origin and destination flows are dependent on survey data, which is collected infrequently and dependent on the memory of the respondents. In contrast, mobility data records down to the millisecond the actual locations of billions of devices, making it a far superior source of information. This high quality input data allows us to recalculate a community’s VMT frequently. This advantage allows decision makers to quickly assess the impact of any major change, whether it be a community initiative or a major road closure.
