Frequently Asked Questions

A survey panel is a community of respondents eager to answer a community’s critical questions. When people agree to take a survey, they will be invited to join your local Community Survey Panel (CSP) so they can continue to share their views on critical, local issues. By joining, members will be invited to participate in community surveys from time to time. Participation in the CSP is voluntary and members may take part in as many or as few surveys as they’d like. Survey participants will also have the opportunity to take commercial surveys for compensation. This program provides the resources for CDP to manage CSPs and to provide free surveys to local leaders.

Leaders need to understand the attitudes and opinions of the people they serve. Typically, leaders have community meetings and engage with stakeholders regularly. Given today’s challenges, this critical task is difficult – just at a time when it has never been so important to make decisions based on Community feedback. National or state surveys are a resource but they don’t capture the sentiment of your unique community. You need granular, reliable data about the people living and working in your community in order to serve them.
Your organization has the strongest relationship with your community members, so you launch the survey and send reminder emails. We’ll give you all the content and the survey links.
Your list remains yours and CDP will never share it or use it other than as agreed with you. As discussed above, you will launch all emails from your system. You will want to send reminders to people who have not responded. For that reason you will share your list with CDP and we will monitor who responds and who does not. We send you updates on who has replied to the survey and who has not replied. This will help prevent you from sending reminder emails to those who have already taken the survey. CDP will delete your mailing list once the survey closes. CDP’s use of your mailing list is only for the response monitoring process.
NO! The list is your list and people are more likely to respond to surveys from people and organizations that they know and trust. We only connect with folks if they opt-in to a Community Survey Panel.
CDP’s surveys are crafted by experienced survey methodologists using industry best practices, rigorous quality assessment, and advanced statistical methods to ensure the survey results genuinely reflect your community. Noted survey features include: 1. Survey design by CDP’s global team of demographers, data scientists, survey experts, and social scientists 2. Extensive QAing by multiple reviewers during questionnaire design and programming to optimize survey for all devices and browsers 3. Statistical techniques (post-stratification adjustments or survey weighting) to ensure the sample population represents the actual population as accurately as possible. We ensure that the surveys aren't biased in terms of too many senior citizens, or too few men, or too many high-income earners.
Yes! The development of Community Survey Panels and the launch of various surveys is free to qualifying organizations. At the end of the survey participants are invited to join the Community Survey Panel. They are also invited to opt-in to take consumer market surveys for compensation. Some percentage of respondents will take advantage of this opportunity and enterprises will compensate CDP for these introductions. This revenue source allows CDP to build and manage CSPs and to offer free surveys. Participants can opt-out of CSPs and consumer market surveys at any time.
CDP will keep you informed as to survey participation and work with you to ensure maximum outreach. When the survey closes CDP presents the results in web based, interactive dashboard. You’ll see the summary of the community’s opinions but also have the ability to query specific data.
Leaders in government, economic development organizations, philanthropies, hospitals, , and other community organizations are eligible to sign up, as long as they have organizational buy-in (e.g. permission from the President/CEO).
